Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Traditional CBT is a collaborative and accessible form of therapy that was originally developed for the treatment of depression, but has since been shown to be effective for a range of difficulties, such as anxiety and panic.

The underlying premise is that there is a relationship between a person's thoughts, feelings and behaviour, which when negative can contribute to psychological distress.

The aim of the therapy is to find ways to address unhelpful thoughts and behaviours to promote psychological well being. Recent therapeutic interventions, such as mindfulness, have built on the traditional CBT premise and currently CBT now incorporates a range of evidence–based interventions that have been shown to be effective.
